This is a little Mambo Email Script I wrote to help me create quick and dirty email forms.

I've found the current components to create Mambo Forms out there to be too much if you just want to quickly create a small mail form, so I wrote this to help me.

This is great if you want to have a little 'subscribe to newsletter', or 'send us your comments' form withing your content. You can then also set this up so that it sends a mail to your autoresponder, and have the person automatically subscribed.

It looks like this: This form doesn't work, but is there to give you an example of what I mean.

Okay here are the steps you should follow to use this: (If this looks a bit hectic, then look at the example at the end, and it should make sense).

  1. Download the file: mailform.php.zip
  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Ftp the file into the includes foler on your server.
  4. Now you need to create the Form. What I like to do is to use something like Dreamweaver or any HTML editor (Except Frontpage - Frontpage chucks in a lot of extra code, which is not needed.)
  5. There are essentially 5 things you need replace in the code

    • You need to put the Javascript Code in front of your first form

    • Then you need to replace your form code with the following:

    • And add the following hidden input types:

    • Make sure that the place where the person enters his email looks as follows:

    • And finally the buttons:

  6. Log into your Mambo Website Administrator
  7. Create or edit a content Item.
  8. If you're using a WYSIWIG editor, Switch to HTML mode
  9. Copy your form into the content editor of Mambo.

And you should be done. I wish I could say it's easy, but it's not really - It should become clear if you look at this example.

Which should look something like this (Please note, this form does NOT work)
